Manifesto of the Coexistence and Ethics Committee

The present Coexistence and Ethics Committee of Milibrohispano has been constituted by the management of the entity in order to explore and present to this board of directors alternative solutions that lead the members to maintain and/or re-establish harmony in the face of any circumstance that may disturb the natural coexistence and understanding among its members.

This committee considers it necessary to remember that our principles and values are in accordance with the mission of the institution. Our primary obligation as active members is based on contributing to a conducive and permanent atmosphere of cordiality that induces spiritual and intellectual growth as human beings, colleagues, and writers.

Under this consideration, it is important to take into account the principles that guide us: Respect, tolerance, equanimity, humility, professionalism, empathy, consideration, understanding, trust, sincerity, transparency, and healthy competition. For this, it is necessary to maintain clear communication and avoid any stigmatization, conflict, confrontation, or coercion. We are a peace organization.

We believe in ethics, the protection of life and the environment, freedom, human dignity, the right to education, respect for intellectual property, work, the pursuit of excellence, the desire to improve, the commitment of word and action, friendship, solidarity, diversity, inclusion, and equity.

We believe that writers are agents of change.

The Coexistence and Ethics Committee calls for sanity and reflection. We are a constructive community that contributes to the well-being of humanity, united through literature to make this a better world. Milibrohispano is a family and, as such, is not immune to the differences or difficulties that may occasionally arise and affect harmony. Taking care of healthy coexistence is part of our commitment. Incidents give us the opportunity to strengthen our principles and always act in accordance with our values as an institution.

Milibrohispano members can participate in the Community chat, if they wish. It is important to remember that the communication platform (WhatsApp chat) that is used interactively by some of the members does not in itself represent the institution. It is only a means that is offered exclusively to discuss literary topics and promote dialogue and collaboration. The linking and use of this medium is free; however, those who use it acquire the commitment to follow and comply with the regulations and principles of the institution and therefore refrain from expressing through texts, images or videos, any information that may affect the dignity and values of other members and, therefore, fuel conflicts. From now on, the procedure to be followed in cases of non-compliance with the statutes or postulates of the institution by any of its members will be the responsibility of the Coexistence and Ethics Committee. The first step will be to establish communication with the members who have failed to comply with these postulates, in order to clarify what happened under the protection of good faith known to resolve the situation in a constructive way that helps individual and collective growth. The members in question will have the opportunity to give the corresponding explanations. The committee will recommend the measures to be taken. Respect for the opinions and differences of each member is of vital importance in the organization for the purposes of maintaining normal and peaceful coexistence and unity.

The Coexistence and Ethics Committee offers a space for dialogue that allows associates to freely express their opinions and/or explain their conduct or behavior in any situation or circumstance of non-compliance with the normative principles of the institution. It also provides the possibility of amending any personal act considered by the committee as contrary to the preservation of these ideals.

We hope that by following these guidelines all members will act accordingly and be welcomed in order to resolve any incident, avoiding polarization in pursuit of the optimal benefit of the institutionality.

Signed in Miami, on the 27th day of the month of August, 2021.

Sincerely,

Luis Carlos Fallón, Luz Amparo Reyes, Jesús Neira, Pilar Vélez.
